Bakemoji — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-31. This policy explains what Bakemoji (the «app»), published by Free Bacon,
collects and why. We collect as little as the app needs to work.
What stays on your phone
Books you open or download, your reading position, settings, wallpapers. Books are never uploaded to us.
What our server receives
- Chapter text, to find words. When a chapter is converted, its text is sent to our server, which returns which
words to replace. The text is processed in memory and is not stored. Single words and short sentences are sent to AI and
speech providers (OpenRouter and the models behind it) to write word explanations and audio; these answers are cached
and shared between all readers, without any link to you.
- A random device ID created by the app, to count daily limits, ink and unlocked chapters.
- App integrity checks (Google Play Integrity on Android, Apple App Attest on iPhone): a verdict that the request
comes from the genuine app.
- If you sign in with Google or Apple: your account identifier and email, and your learning progress
(streak, learned words and kana, settings), so they follow you to other devices.
- Purchases: Google Play or the App Store handles payment; we receive the purchase record to unlock Plus. We never
see your card.
- Usage statistics: which features are used (a chapter converted, an exam finished, a screen opened), with the
device ID and, if a feature is being tested, the test group. In the Android and iPhone apps the same events and crash
reports also go to Amplitude (product analytics) and Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, which receive an app instance identifier, the device model
and system version. Book text is never part of them.
- Your country, worked out from your IP address at the moment of a library request, only to show the free books
that are public domain where you are. The IP address is not stored.
- Messages you send us from the app («Write to us»), with the email you choose to add.
- Technical logs: request time, path and errors, kept for 7 days.
Ads
Without Plus the app may show ads through Google AdMob, which can use your device's advertising identifier. On iPhone
it is used only if you allow tracking. In the EU/UK you are asked for consent. See
how Google uses data in ads.
What we don't do
We don't sell personal data, don't build profiles and don't share data except with the providers named above
for the purposes above.
Your rights and deleting data
You can delete your account and all server data in the app at any time — see how.
You can ask us for a copy or deletion of
your data by email.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their data.
